There is sadly a lack of high quality footage from back in the day but anything at least half decent I’ll highlight here. If you have any footage from back then that you’d like to share, that would be excellent, full credit will be given.
Vision – Popham Airfield – 29th August, 1992 – Huge event in 1992 licensed for 20,000 people, a lot more turned up than that! A huge storm ended up drenching the place, didn’t stop this lot though. The guy at 11:20, been there!
Doncaster Warehouse – September, 1992 – Everyone was that off their face at this one that I can’t even get an actual date for it, just some ecstacy filled days in September, 1992. This video has been doing the rounds on YouTube for years due to the amount of gurning from the crowd, it’s fucking hilarious. Here it is, two and a half hours of footage with no ads. There’s a guy in this one (you’ll know who I mean) who is having the absolute best time of his entire life and we’re all here for him, you legend! Massive thanks to DJ M-Zone, who was one of the DJ’s playing here this night, for the extra footage.
World Dance – Lydd Airport – 8th August, 1992 – The first ever World Dance event, this series of raves and this venue went on to become one of the biggest parties in the UK that focussed heavily on drum and bass as the years went by. Plenty of happy vibe tunes in 1992 though as can be seen and heard here.
Fantazia – One Step Beyond – Castle Donnington – 25th July, 1992 – Massive event in the summer of ’92 whereby a huge 25,000 people attended. This was a proper party with a massive inflateable dragon that billowed smoke over the crowd and included a midnight fireworks display. One raver put it best; “I had never seen so many happy people in one place at any one time.“
Fantazia – Takes you into Summertime – Matchams Park Stadium – May 15th, 1992 – Licensed for 8000 people its reported up to twice that attended. One of the biggest, most revered outdoor raves the UK had ever seen, the weather was great for this one with people headed to the beach after the rave was over!
Sven Vath – Love Parade – Berlin, 2000 – Sven really enjoying himself here! Seriously though, what a night this was, the atmosphere was electric, the flares, the smoke, the people clambering all over the lorry, Sven starting up his set in the dead of night whilst pilled off his fucking face! Magical.
